Here I write about the faithfulness of God in my life
and in the lives of saints throughout the ages.
I seek to help us all to take our faith from our heads,
down into our hearts (where we can feel it)
and then to our feet (where we live it)!

Garden of Discipline: Tool of Prayer, Inspired by Imagination
Our imaginations can allow us to pray more effectively! They allow us to see the world through the eyes of the ones we want to pray for. This will help us to pray for what they really need. God gave us imaginations. Let’s use them for good!

Garden of Discipline: Tool of Prayer - Still Listening
It turns out that praying is less about talking to God and more about listening to Him! Like the ultimate Good Neighbor, God is ready, willing and able to answer every request for help. But to pray according to God’s will, you first have to listen to what that is!

Garden of Discipline: Tool of Meditation - Invitation to See
God is inviting us to see our world through the light of His love. AND the world can allow us to see God more clearly in new ways. This is abiding, a form of meditation. It can change everything, ourselves included.

Garden of Discipline: Meditation, He Still Speaks
God still speaks and invites you to come and spend time in sweet communion with Him. Beware though, you will not leave as you were. God’s voice is creative and transformative. He loves you just as you are AND too much to leave you as you are.

Garden of Discipline
No one likes discipline, which is actually Biblical! Hebrews 12:11 tells us, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” As a gardener tends and prunes and trains a plant to maximize growth, God does the same with our souls until we look more and more like Jesus…if we are willing to submit to His tender care. And He graciously allows us to partner with Him through activities that have sometimes been called Spiritual Disciplines. This is the introduction to a series on this topic.
